Sedation Dentistry

What procedures use sedation? Laughing gas and other sedation methods can be used for just about any dental procedure, but it can vary based on the patient’s medical history and dental needs. We will be sure to consider these factors before we ever move forward with any kind of sedative.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is an excellent option for patients who suffer from dental anxiety. It is simply taken in pill or liquid form and ingested at a set time before treatment. The drug produces a calming effect to make the visit to our office a much less stressful experience. Oral sedation is simple, safe and has very few side effects.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is commonly referred to as “sleep dentistry” because it will be as if you fell asleep for your procedure and you won’t remember much. For IV sedation to work, a specific set of chemicals are administered via IV for the duration of the procedure, and you will be carefully monitored to ensure your safety. Often reserved for oral surgery, IV sedation is also available to those with intense dental anxiety and phobia. It makes dental care much easier.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

It’s common to feel anxious about going to the dentist. Even though we are dentists and do this every day, we are sympathetic and we understand that some patients simply dread going to the dentist, no matter how positive the environment can be.

Our goal is to ensure your ultimate comfort by providing a variety of sedation options geared towards helping you feel relaxed and calm during your dental care.

So, if you have been afraid to go to the dentist in the past, sedation dentistry makes it possible to get the dental care you need without worrying or feeling anxious.

Nitrous oxide sedation is one of our most common form of sedation. Better known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is inhaled through a mask and produces a state of relaxation. Nitrous oxide is designed to make procedures easier for nervous patients and has been effective for many years.
